About

Who writes this, and who pays for it

The one place that tells you what actually works in facial rejuvenation — from a surgeon who does this work, not a brand selling you something.

Who I am

I am Jay Keni, MD, a facial plastic surgeon in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. I am dual board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. The second one is the specialty of the head and neck itself: the planes, the nerves, and what to do when the anatomy in front of you is not the anatomy in the textbook.

My practice is FaceLove Facial Plastic Surgery. I do deep plane facelifts, neck lifts, eyelid surgery and fat transfer. I write everything on this site, and I review it on the schedule each page states.

Who owns this site, and how it is paid for

I own facelove.info. My practice publishes it, and my practice is its only advertiser. The sponsor unit you see on these pages is mine, it is labeled Advertisement, and clicking it takes you to my practice site.

That is a conflict of interest, and the way to handle a conflict of interest is to state it plainly and then behave as though someone is checking. Which is why:

  • Every verdict on Does It Actually Work? carries its citations and a grade for the quality of the evidence, including for treatments I perform and profit from.
  • Several entries grade treatments I could sell as thin or as not working. Those grades are the point of the index.
  • There are no procedure pages, no pricing pages, no location pages and no patient photographs on this domain. Commercial intent belongs on my practice site, and it is handed over through a labeled ad rather than smuggled through editorial.

What this site is for

Most of what is published about facial rejuvenation is written by people selling a specific product, or by people who have never done the operation. The result is that a reasonable person researching a facelift has to assemble an answer from a dozen half-sources, each with its own reason for telling her what it tells her.

This is an attempt at the other thing: a reference library, dated and maintained, that says what the evidence supports and what it does not, including when the answer is unflattering to my own field.

What this site is not

It is not medical advice, and reading it does not make you my patient. Nothing here can account for your anatomy, your history or your goals, which is what a consultation is for. The full statement is on the medical disclaimer page.

It is also not a place where I will tell you what a named public figure has had done. This site reports what reputable outlets reported, attributed and linked, and it never asserts in my voice what a living person has or has not had. That rule is enforced by a script, not by memory.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, or has gone out of date, I want to know. Write to support@drkeni.com. How corrections and publisher requests are handled is set out in the editorial policy.
