How this site is made

What gets published, what gets graded, what gets corrected, and who to write to.

Ownership and advertising

facelove.info is published by FaceLove Facial Plastic Surgery, Jay Keni, MD, which is also its only advertiser. The sponsor unit is labeled Advertisement on every page it appears on and links to the practice site. There are no other advertisers, no affiliate links, no sponsored content, and no paid placements in any guide, verdict or news item. If that changes, it will be disclosed here first and labeled at the point of use.

How news items are chosen

Candidate items are pulled from a fixed list of consumer titles, trade publications, peer-reviewed journals and regulatory feeds. Every item is read before it publishes. An item is rejected if it is body-only and the modality does not transfer to the face or neck, if it comes from a source we do not use, or if it trips one of the guardrails below.

Sources we never use: other surgeons’ practice blogs, medspa marketing, supplement and device vendor content, hard-paywalled pieces we cannot summarize honestly, and anything from a publisher who has asked us to stop.

Publisher text and images

We reproduce a publisher’s headline, verbatim, in the attribution line, and nothing else of theirs. Summaries are written here, in our own words, and are checked mechanically against the source text before publication. We do not use publishers’ images at all — no hotlinking, no scraped preview images, no media enclosures from a feed. Every image on this site is licensed by us, drawn by us, or photographed by us.

Evidence grades

Every entry in Does It Actually Work? carries a grade describing the quality of the human evidence. The grade is about the evidence, not about how much I like the treatment, and the two come apart often.

  • A — Multiple well-designed randomized controlled trials in humans, or a systematic review of them, with consistent results and independent replication.
  • B — At least one good randomized trial, or several consistent controlled studies, with limitations: small samples, short follow-up, or heavy industry sponsorship.
  • C — Mostly uncontrolled, unblinded or single-arm studies, or controlled studies that disagree with each other.
  • D — Mechanism, laboratory work, case series or marketing claims, with little or no controlled human data.

And the verdicts: Works means consistent, clinically meaningful benefit. Modest means real but small, or real only under specific conditions. Mixed means the studies disagree, or the result depends heavily on the operator. Thin evidence means a plausible mechanism without enough good human data to call it. Doesn’t means the claim as marketed is not supported.

No verdict publishes with fewer than two citations, at least one of them from a peer-reviewed journal or a regulatory source.

Review schedule

Every guide and verdict shows the date it was last reviewed and the cadence it is reviewed on. A page that has gone past its own cadence says so on the page itself. We would rather show you that we are behind on something than quietly leave a stale date in place.

Named people

We cover what reputable outlets have reported about public figures, with attribution and a link. We never assert, in our own voice, what a named living person has or has not had done. This is checked by a script before anything publishes.

What we do not publish

  • The phrase “free consultation”, anywhere.
  • Procedure counts, or any superlative about the practice.
  • Before-and-after photographs, or any patient photography.
  • Pricing, procedure pages or location pages.
  • Prescriptive instructions. Pages here describe and contextualize; what you should do about your own face is a conversation with a physician who has examined it.

Corrections

Write to support@drkeni.com. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, and the page’s review date is updated so the change is visible. Substantive corrections are noted on the page itself.

Takedowns

If you are a publisher and you would prefer we did not link to or summarize your work, write to support@drkeni.com and we will remove the item within three business days and add the source to our do-not-use list. No argument, no form, no legal preliminaries.
